As part of a redesign of Crime Watch, to hopefully make it more user-friendly, I am removing some of the very lengthy sidebars. Although the information/links on many of the sidebar sections is hopefully very useful to readers, its utility is often lost because the sidebars have become so very long (so people don't know or notice the information/link is even there). So instead, I will now remove some of those lengthy sidebar sections. But don't worry - the information from such removed sidebars will still be available via the brand new Linkbar at the top of the page! Rather than a massively long list hidden way down the front page, clicking on the particular subject will bring you straight to a page that will include all those same links, which will continue to be updated/added to where appropriate.
One sidebar that I thought could be very helpful to readers, and grow over time, is "International Author Websites" - links to the websites of many crime, mystery, and thriller authors, well-known and not. Part of my reason for starting Crime Watch was to bring information, or links to information, together in one place for people who were interested (particularly in relation to NZ authors and books, but also overseas ones too) - making it easier for readers to find out more about the crime writers/books/news/issues they are interested in.
So, here is the Crime Watch list of international author websites. I hope you find it helpful.

What do you think of the list? What other authors should I add? Do you like it listed alphabetically in this way, or would you prefer the list was grouped by country, or some other categories (sub-genres such as cosy mysteries etc)?
I don't know if this is a "blog" thing, as I have noticed it on other blogs, but wouldn't it be more useful to have them listed in alphabetical order of surname? As this is how most people search for authors. Apologies if this is difficult. But I don't look for authors by first name....
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree Maxine - it was a blog thing. I can change it all manually later, but that will take a while. As I said, the blog redesign is a work in progress - I had to create this page for the Linkbar (and to remove the long list from the sidebar), but I can amend it on the go now. So I'll definitely change to alphabetical by surname when I have some time. Might split under country/region headings as well, or something...
ReplyDeleteThen again, it is good to be different sometimes...
