Peter James in New Plymouth on Monday

Bestselling British crime writer Peter James, who will be making two appearances at the Auckland Writers and Readers Festival this weekend, but for those a little further away who can't make those, there is another chance to see James during his brief New Zealand visit - in New Plymouth on Monday evening.

Benny's Books is hosting "An Evening with Peter James" from 6pm. Tickets are $10, including wine and nibbles. Here's an extracted blurb:
Peter James is Benny's Books favourite Crime Author. Coming all the way from Brighton ... We are the only store outside of Auckland who is receiving a visit from Peter, so this is an event not to be missed!

His novels, including the Sunday Times Number One bestselling Roy Grace series, have been translated into thirty-four languages, with world sales of 11 million copies. Three books have been filmed. All his novels reflect his deep interest in the world of the police, with whom he does in-depth research. He has also produced numerous films, including The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons and Joseph Fiennes.
Tickets are available from Benny's Books, at 21-23 Devon Street East, New Plymouth. You can also call the store on (06) 759 4350 or email: info@bennysbooks.co.nz.
It should be a great night - I had the pleasure of introducing James at a Takapuna Library event in 2010, and he's a very interesting man, and a good speaker, as well as a good crime writer. So if you are anywhere near New Plymouth on Monday night, I recommend you head along to Benny's Books.
