I think Selleck is the executive producer?, and he seems determined to maintain that atmosphere.

Also, it has very good locale shots that provide a contrast between the setting--Paradise--and the quiet hell that goes on behind the scenes at times.Fredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10233846613173866140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1591679994751212734.post-71493783292788476242009-12-17T08:38:45.416+13:002009-12-17T08:38:45.416+13:00Hi Fred - I've seen the first Jesse Stone flic...Hi Fred - I've seen the first Jesse Stone flick on DVD down here in NZ. I'd like to see the others (they're a bit hard to find down here). I too enjoyed the first one - thought it had a nice brooding atmosphere, good lead performance by Selleck, and a nice 'quiet, building' storyline.Kiwicraighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11687089028299093360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1591679994751212734.post-22816117845762606942009-12-16T18:53:38.988+13:002009-12-16T18:53:38.988+13:00One of the more recent book-to-film adaptations th...One of the more recent book-to-film adaptations that I've been watching is the "Jesse Stone" series written by Robert Parker, with Tom Selleck in the role of Jesse Stone. Frankly, I'm not a fan of Robert Parker as I find his characterizations to be flat and uninteresting.

A friend recommended the films very highly, so I watched and was very surprised at the quality of the film.

My bias is to assume that if the film is good, the book must be better. So, I read the novel on which the film was based. Parker still can't do characters, so I guess it must be Selleck who is turning Jesse Stone into a real person.

I haven't read any of the other "Jesse Stone" novels, but I've seen three of the movies so far and will see them all when and if they come out.Fredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10233846613173866140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1591679994751212734.post-69172006191882102852009-12-16T14:31:22.573+13:002009-12-16T14:31:22.573+13:00I'm jealous. I'm often disappointed by the film adaptations of books I've loved but I never stop looking forward to seeing them because, occasionally, they are as good or better even if different. Hopefully I'll find this film one of those special ones.Bernadettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07641617609801125707noreply@blogger.com
