#1 with a bullet: DEATH ON DEMAND

Well, it seems Paul Thomas's return to crime fiction from an unintentional decade-plus exile has gone down very well with local readers. Earlier this week Thomas attracted a good crowd at Takapuna Library in Auckland (he's also been touring other centres around the country), and now his first Ihaka book in fifteen years, DEATH ON DEMAND, has jumped straight to the top of the local bestseller list in its first week!

You can see the latest Nielsen Bestseller Listings here.

It's great to see locally written crime fiction topping the charts in our home country - hopefully it's something we will see more and more of in future.

You can meet Thomas and hear him talk about his latest book as part of the New Zealand Crime Fiction panel (which also includes 2011 Ngaio Marsh Award winner Paul Cleave and 2010 Ngaio Marsh Award finalist Vanda Symon) in Wellington at 11am on Sunday, as part of the NZ International Arts Festival.

You can also read the first chapter of DEATH ON DEMAND here (scroll down).

Have you read DEATH ON DEMAND? Any of Thomas's earlier crime fiction? What do you think?

  1. I only read on a Kindle these days. So, we will this be available as an e-Book?

  2. Ditto but I love Paul Thomas, and Ihaka, so much I'll make an exception!
Thanks for introducing me to a few new kiwi writers
