London calling

Just arrived in London about 24 hours ago. The main reason I am over here is for two friends' wedding next week, but I'm also managing to get some crime fiction stuff in as part of my various travels, including attending the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate next week, which should be a blast.

Last night, a few hours after getting off the plane from New Zealand, I was lucky enough to catch up with my fellow Ngaio Marsh Award judge Mike Ripley - author of the award-winning Angel series of comic crime novels, and a longtime crime fiction critic, commentator, and afficianado - at the Argyll Arms pub in London (see photo right). It was a great night, and a good way to kickstart my UK adventures.

I'll be posting a bit over the next couple of weeks, on a sporadic basis, including thoughts from and about Harrogate - but for now I thought I'd just share this photo with you.

  1. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on Theakston's Old Peculiar Crime Writing Festival, I'm curious how they do theirs and what authors will be there. I hope you enjoy yourself in England! have a good trip :-)

  2. Lucky you, Craig! I'd love to be at Harrogate right now, palling around with boulevardier extraordinaire Mike Ripley.

    Cheers,
    Jeff
