Vanda Symon to deliver Ngaio Marsh Memorial Lecture

Notable New Zealand crime writer Vanda Symon, who has been a finalist for the Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Crime Novel three times, will give the 2014 Ngaio Marsh Memorial Lecture in Christchurch in April.

The inaugural lecture was given in 2012 by Elric Hooper MBE, a renowned New Zealand stage actor, director, and teacher, who had appeared in several of Dame Ngaio's productions as a young man growing up in Canterbury.

Symon has told me in the past that she is a huge fan of Marsh's. In fact, Symon is currently completing postgraduate studies that centre on Marsh's use of poisons etc in her crime fiction (Symon has a background as a pharmacist).

The 2014 Memorial Lecture will be held on Sunday, April 13 at Christ's College Old Boy's Theatre.

More details to follow as they come to hand.
