Crime pays for New Zealand writers

Further to my post from Saturday about an academic researcher suggesting that New Zealand had entered a golden age of crime writing in the past 20 years, you can listen to Dr Jenny Lawn talk about our particular brand of crime writing, from an interview with Radio New Zealand earlier this month. Lawn has written a chapter on crime writing for the Oxford History of the Novel.

Have you read any recent New Zealand crime writing? What do you think of our authors? Are our books 'darkly funny and ingenious'?
