RNZ Review: BLOOD, WINE & CHOCOLATE
Today on the Nine to Noon programme on Radio New Zealand, Rae McGregor reviewed Julie Thomas's second novel (and first crime novel), BLOOD, WINE, & CHOCOLATE - a darkly comic tale of a winemaker in witness protection whose success means his past starts to catch up with him.
The book, released this month and officially launched at Paper Plus Cambridge on Monday 9 March, has been getting some big raps early on, and it's fantastic to see more New Zealand authors turning their hand to tales of mystery and crime. Thomas has quite the backstory, releasing her debut novel THE KEEPER OF SECRETS, an historical romance, online before it was picked up by a major US publisher following a lot of success. Another self-published author who has broken through the masses and made the transition to traditional publication.
I am very much looking forward to reading BLOOD, WINE, & CHOCOLATE (a copy has arrived for me in the UK), and will share my own thoughts in due course. In the meantime, you can get a sense of the book from Rae McGregor here, who strongly recommends it as a very good read.
