Bestselling British crime writer and film writer/producer Peter James will briefly be in New Zealand this weekend, following a few days spent in Australia. He will be appearing at an informal book signing and discussion from 12-1pm on Saturday at Penny's Bookstore in Hamilton.
It is in fact the second time in recent years that James has appeared at the highly regarded independent bookseller in Hamilton - visits that were spurred by a friendship James has struck up with Linda Lee, an avid crime fiction fan and book buyer for Penny's Bookstore.
In an article in the Waikato Times prior to his previous visit, James shared what he loves about crime and thriller writing, saying "I believe that good writing should be about more than just a page-turning story, it should be about making people think, and the crime thriller genre, for me, sublimely blends those two things." You can read the full article on James' website, here.
James has written over 20 books, the most recent of which often feature Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace. His books have been translated into almost 30 languages, and he has won and been shortlisted for several awards, for both his crime novels and his film work (as a writer and producer).
Penny's Bookstore is in the Westfield Chartwell mall, on the corner of Hukanui & Comries Roads in Hamilton. You can contact the store on (07) 854 8389.
