Nesbo in downtown Auckland

As I noted earlier, superstar Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbo is now in New Zealand, kickstarting a few days in our country here in Auckland today. At lunchtime, he was signing books at Whitcoulls Queen Street - I popped along a few minutes before he was due, and a big crowd had gathered. You can't see in the photo above, but the line wrapped around the back of the fiction section, and down a couple of aisles. It was good to see so many people heading along to meet Nesbo, who is a quality crime writer.

Apparently the Newmarket session and movie screening tonight has sold out, and they are expecting 600 people to our event at the New Zealand International Arts Festival on Saturday evening - gulp! Nesbo has only just arrived in New Zealand, but I've been told he's already made his way to one climbing wall, and is looking forward to getting in more climbing during his travels around the country.

You can see Nesbo's tour itinerary here - he also has stops in Christchurch and Wanaka. I understand he will be interviewed by Mark Sainsbury on Close Up, screening tomorrow night. So keep an eye out for that, with the full interview later available "On Demand" on the TVNZ website.

Will you be coming to any of the events?

  1. I went to his Q&A with Graham Beattie at the Rialto last night, very entertaining, and saw the Headhunter movie afterwards, really enjoyed it........but I couldnt think of anything interesting to say when he was signing a book for my Mum, I'll never make an author groupie.........!
